RALPH: Tables Have Turned

Impossible to not start this off with this screenshot (left) from an episode of The Office. I don't even watch the show religiously, but it came to mind so here we are. What I do watch religiously, or "listen to" rather, is Toronto pop enigma RALPH. I love myself some retro synths, some flecks of disco, and even a little R&B hues, and that's exactly what "Tables Have Turned" delivers here and on a giant silver platter. The song playfully struggles between having and losing the control of a relationship with lyrics like "I had control in the driver's seat, but my hands are slipping off the wheel," while the chorus lends listeners to believe she's embracing the release from the competition. Either way, let's be honest. I'm pretty sure RALPH always has the upper hand.
