Coachella Q&A: Melvv

With his Coachella performance right around the corner, we sent Atlantic-signed newcomer Melvv some Q's to A. We cover everything from what’s in his travel survival bag, how he envisions his day to go, to what's next on the horizon. Known for his gorgeous, high octane electronic pop tracks, festivalgoers are in for a treat with this one.

Where were you when you first heard you'll be playing Coachella?

I was half asleep in my bunk on a tour bus. Kinda wasn’t expecting to play this year. Stoked to be back.

Are you a Coachella newbie? If so, what are you most excited or most nervous about? If you're a veteran, what's the one story that encapsulates your most memorable Coachella experience?

I was on the DoLab stage a couple years ago. It was one of the first festivals I ever played and I was still in college back then. Was the biggest crowd I had done for sure so it was definitely special.

What's in your Coachella survival bag and does that bag include any extra special add-ons for your set that we can look forward to?

Honestly not much at all. I really just carry my headphones and usbs, a snack and some water. 

Describe how you envision the day of your performance to go:

9AM: still sleeping haha
11AM: wake up, head to the festival
1PM: get to my stage, chill out a little, meet up with some friends
3PM: i think my set time’s around then!! so performing
5PM: probably hibernating for a sec post-set
7PM-11PM: watching beyoncé or something

If you could have any celebrity front row during your show who would it be? 

Kanye West no doubt

Out of all of your fellow Coachella artists performing, whose show are you most looking forward to watching?

All my homies honestly, couldn’t pick one. Marian Hill, Louis the Child, Whethan. Also Cuco, we just started working together.

What was the last song you listened to on repeat?

1950 by King Princess, loved it so much I did this remix of it for fun. It’s in all my sets now.

If you could partner with any brand, who would it be and why?

Adidas or Vans. I wear both religiously.

Post-Coachella, anything exciting on the horizon we should know about and share with the universe?

Tons of new music, a headline tour in May, bunch of festivals through the summer.
