Who Runs The World?

Billie Eilish - watch

Halfway through my first listen of Billie Eilish's "watch," I caught myself holding my breath.  I'm pretty sure my mouth was open and I was leaning forward, as well.  I felt like a snake in a basket, completely hypnotized semi-channeling one of those inflatable arm flailing tube men you see at car dealerships.  The emotion behind Billie's vocals: edge-of-your-seat status.  Definitely one of my favorite songs of 2017.

Anjulie - Dream Again

Did you know the following inventions were inspired by dreams? The idea for Google (Larry Page), the alternating current generator (Tesla), DNA's double helix spiral form (James Watson), the sewing machine (Elias Howe), the periodic table (Dimiitri Mendeleyev)...the list goes on. So when Anjulie asks "When will we dream again?," my advice to pop a Ambien and get to it. Mankind is counting on it!

LÉON - Think About You (Dave Edwards Remix)

If you follow our Spotify playlist, you've already heard LÉON's latest single "Surround Me," and said to yourself dayum girl.   Well, Dave Edwards -- a producer with the Midas touch -- surrounds the singer with his remix of "Think About You."  "Sometimes you find small things buried in the stems of a song that you think would be an interesting main element"...that's exactly what Dave did by taking a vocal snippet heard in the intro and verses and used it as an anchor to build from.

Skela - HELLA

Comic and indie-pop fans alike, listen up.  HERØ Records sets out to harness the magical world of comics by injecting it into the music lens.  For each release, emerging artists -- like Skela and her song "Hella" -- will be accompanied by a digital 3-5 page comic that reflects the ethos of the music, and will star a completely original superhero or villain based off the artist.  We'll have to keep an eye out to see how the comic version of Skela pans out, but from a music standpoint I'm feeling vigilante vibes.

L Devine - School Girls

L Devine is here to tell you about the real life with her debut single, "School Girls."  The song is an empathetic lesson about the growing pains of adolescence.  If you can't relate then you can shove yourself in a locker or pants yourself during the next pep rally.  In all honestly, some the the lyrics are a bit bubblegum for a dude like me, but L Devine has undeniable potential from the look, the vocal pipes and a detention-earning personally.
