Melis: Flower
I just blossomed into a fan for half Czech, half Turkish singer-songwriter Melis after listening to her song "Flower." If I were a contemporary dance choreographer, you'd find me rejoicing through an interpretive number with flowy costumes and colorful lighting. Instead, I'll appreciate Melis's musical magnificence sans the moves but with the same zest for life.
“Flower is the track from the EP that really holds a special place for me. I wrote it during 2016 which seemed to be a bit of a rough patch for me. The sentiment of the song is that going through sadness and being in a dark place isn’t forever. There is hope and better things, if only one doesn’t give up. This song is the encouragement for that. I recorded the idea, like Love Song Idea, on my iPhone. I began to record parts of it in my apartment and in a small Berlin studio space with Josh Christopher.”
