[PREMIERE] PHANGS Feat. R.LUM.R: Always Been U
When people think Nashville, they immediately think country music, but there's a lot more brewing beneath the surface. Having made the move south from Los Angeles two years ago, I was inspired to see little pockets of pop music popping up throughout the city. The latest from PHANGS (featuring R.LUM.R) is the perfect example of Nashville's collaborative spirit mixed with the pop vibes that are slowly, but surely giving LA a run for it's money.
"Always Been U" mixes 90's nostalgia with of-the-moment synth tones and vocal chops (both literally & production-wise) that really sink their teeth in. If that wasn't enough to suck you in, R.LUM.R lends his buttery vocals to the bridge, adding the perfect contrast and texture at just the right moment. LA may have always been the city for pop, but Nashville is ready to make it's mark.
“Living in Nashville, I’m lucky to have talented friends that I get to also be fans of. I wrote this tune almost a year ago and was fortunate enough to have my dude R.LUM.R come through to track and write on this song. It didn’t feel forced at all...just a couple friends hanging out and making music.”
