[PREMIERE] Mako & Rat City: Run For Your Life Ft. Natalola + Hourglass LP

Born out of the ashes of its predecessor, a phoenix is reborn from the flames of it’s former self. Heavily associated with the sun’s glorious life giving rays, the rebirth of a Phoenix signifies a new beginning, and that’s exactly what we have here with DJ’s turned full band Mako. For Alex and Logan this last year has been a departure from their EDM roots, they’ve laid to rest those ties and embarked on a new sonic journey. With the release of their Hourglass LP today, the guys have set their sights on a full band oriented musical focus with the same kind of heart and amazing melodies that’s encompassed their entire catalogue. Listen to songs like “Let Go Of The Wheel,” “Smoke Filled Room,” “Paradise Lost” or their stripped down version of “Our Story” at the LP’s conclusion and you’ll get a clear sense of their new heading.

This final single “Run For Your Life" featuring Natalola is particularly appropriate for our Phoenix analogy due to the sunny nature of the instrumental. Bobbing synths, guitar, and plucky piano give this tune almost a tropical overtone making way for Natalola’s voice to shine.
