[PREMIERE] Inspired & the Sleep: Sweet Company
You are in "Sweet Company" with Inspired & the Sleep, the San Diego-based indie-pop duo consisting of singer-songwriter Max Greenhalgh and multi-instrumentalist Bryce Outcault. The boys craft a sonic landscape of raucous house parties which tumble into 60s beach party films. When I tell you these guys bring the mashed potato I’m not talking about the vegetable. Think Gidget being carried to the sand on a surfboard, a bonfire surrounded by skimpy bathing suits, everything "outta sight, man." Thick harmonies close in on the gritty but groove-centered pop song, decorated by candid lyrical quips. With boundless earworms floating in and out of the mix, "Sweet Company" is as contagious as it is energizing and you’ll find yourself singing along before the end of your first listen.
"Sweet Company is our jubilant ode to the feeling of belonging in relation to one's memory. To me, the song represents the action of appreciating the good times you've spent in any sort of relationship regardless of when they occurred or how it might've ended. The verses depict a particular individual I was dating at the time, however the chorus speaks in generality of anyone from your past you've been close to. I see so many people cutting ties to past relationships and I feel like if that energy was spent being grateful for what they used to have, the world would be a better place." - Inspired & the Sleep
