Remix Masters turned Guitar Heroes! RAC came to DC sunday night for a near sold out show at 9:30 Club. We took a lot of pictures and danced even more.
The night started with SPEAK. The Austin band just signed to Wind-up Records and may have the hardest working frontman, Troupe Gammage, in the indie-pop game. Could you front a band, vocals AND guitar, for 45 minutes then hop back up on stage less than an hour later to join another band and keep going for 90 more? Yeah. Didn't think so.
Next up was DC favorite Penguin Prison for his first full live show in over a year. His performance proved yet again why he never fails to draw a crowd. The energy was tangible as he played a mix of crowd favorites, like "Worse It Gets" & "Don't F**k With My Money," his new release "Calling Out." and a few new tracks off his upcoming sophomore LP due out early 2015.
To cap off the night RAC took the stage, with Groupe many a few instruments. The crowded roared with excitement as they took the stage and the dancing continued for the next 90 minutes straight. Each member taking turns playing instruments and singing vocals for tracks usually sung by heavy hitters in the indie-pop world. Definitely the perfect way to cap off any weekend.
