[PREMIERE] Melanie Martinez: Dollhouse (One Love Remix)
If you're not familiar with Melanie Martinez, you're missing out. The 19-year old songstress released her EP, Dollhouse, this past May, and just finished her supporting tour for the record. This is all fine and dandy, (and touring sounds like a blast) but we're just sitting here SO anxious for her full length that it's not even fair.
But since the album seems far away (sigh), we're making do with a few brand spankin' new remixes of Dollhouse's title track. Our favorite? The absolutely brilliant One Love remix. With the wobbling vocoder, siren-soaked prechorus, and a chorus full of perfect vocal chops, it's really everything a remix should be. The sonics are reinvented, the chords are reharmonized, and best of all, the drop is giving me reason to blast this as loud as possible for as long as possible. Quite the novel reinvention, and given that One Love is the maestro producer behind the original tune, we're doubly impressed by his hip-hop tinted edit of the tune.
Now you'll have to excuse me. I have to go blast this remix and badger Melanie for an advance copy of her forthcoming album.
