[PREMIERE] New Beat Fund: Scare Me (Mystery Skulls Remix)
Self-described as “G-Punk Beach Funk,” New Beat Fund's music is a mix of rock and off-beat groovy rhythms. If you're unfamiliar, the LA-based band just wrapped up the Journeys Noise Tour w/ 3OH!3, and recently signed with Red Bull Records. "Scare Me" is a genre-blurring anthem blending ska punk and indie-pop with a dash of quirk, and is arguably the band's most popular song to date.
Commissioned to remix "Scare Me," Warner Brother Records' latest signee Mystery Skulls gives the track a typically unique and innovative interpretation, with a synth-heavy electronic rework that is full of funky bass plucks and indie aesthetics. I would say these are two of the year’s most promising young acts—but they’re already better than that. No mystery there.
