I feel like I asked for a little off the top from Ryan Beatty's song, "Haircut," but instead got a Sally Hershberger signature chop with a full blowout! Take it from me (and the chorus), when this now LA-based artist sings "it starts right now," it fucking starts right NOW. If you're late to the party, the song is part of Ryan's debut LP that was released less than a week ago, so you have time to catch up and 14 tracks to revel in. For those in LA, is it a coincidence this release arrives in tandem with a series of heatwaves?
“Some of the best ideas come when it’s least convenient. I wrote these songs usually in my car or on my parents’ couch. I’d drive to Calvin’s and when I’d walk in he would be playing a vinyl of some artist that I’d never heard of. I remember there being a lot of D’Angelo too. Thank you to my parents for the gas money. Thank God for last summer.”
