KING: Mango

KING Mango.jpg

Loving the name KING, especially for a strong Cuban-Chilean female...and who doesn't love a mango? I'm an immediate devotee. Luckily, accompanying the above is one hell of a catchy, Latin-influenced record called "Mango" that screams holiday. Also, after a quick Google search, apparently the mango is of great spiritual importance. From the fruit (wealth), to its leaves (fertility) -- even the pit I read is a symbol of immortality -- each piece stands equally tall while the sum of its parts has a deliciousness of its own. But the best meaning of the word, and the inspiration behind this fiery conga line of an anthem is revealed in the quote, below.

In Cuba, a hot guy is often called a ‘mango’. I’ve been wanting to make a record that celebrates my Cuban heritage for a while now, so when I hooked up with one of my writers and he played me this melody, the line “tu eres mi mango” just came into my head and the song wrote itself from there. I had to fight hard to get this record made, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
