“The Deep End is probably one of the happiest songs I’ve ever written (weird, but it’s all relative). While the majority of the song is spent lamenting over some failed romantic experiment, that relationship really only served as a contrast to what I’ve experienced in the ‘deep end’. Don’t sweat the makeshift love - even if it feels big at the time, you’ll know when you’ve got something deeper. And, sometimes, being in the deep end and living so closely tied to someone else can bring you to the darkest places you’ve ever been in. But when you make it out of that space and you’re still holding on to whoever it is that you’ve found, it’s the most beautiful thing in the world.”
