Vera: In And Out Of Love
We’ll be honest. We’ve been digging tirelessly for something inventive this year. And while we’ve come across bits and pieces that hint towards something that pushes us past this down-tempo, vocal chop trend that’s been raging on for far too too long, Vera’s "In And Out Of Love" has firmly planted itself into the small but growing collection of a slow tunes done right.
With a wavering intro that plants slow-attack synths against driving percussion, everything seems to have a hint of normalcy until the :53 second mark when a blaring saxophone takes us to the promised land. After that, all bets are off. Bits of flamenco styled guitar and poke in and out of the mix and masterful keys programming sits just far enough behind the beat to keep us absolutely hooked. Vera may be in and out of love, but we’re completely, 100%, unabashedly in love. Pop this one on every playlist you own.
