Coachella Q&A: HONNE

Just trying to hear a good beat? Something that grabs you by the collar and threatens you with a good time? That's where British duo HONNE comes into play.  I can't imagine anyone not becoming an immediate devotee of theirs with just one casual play of "Warm On A Cold Night," or "Someone That Loves You" or "3am" or....I'll stop myself before I ramble out their entire discography.

Listening now with my spirits lifted but suddenly longing for a late night of debauchery.  Luckily, Coachella is less than two weeks out where we'll be causing trouble and blaming HONNE.  In the meantime, we had the opportunity to host a Q&A with the duo leading up to their show and covered everything from what's in their travel survival bag, which fellow-performer they're most excited to see,  LaCroix Sparkling Water and more!

When the Coachella lineup was announced, what's the best reaction you received from a fan, friend, or family member?

HONNE HONNE HONNE FUCK YOU COACHELLA WHY AM I 8 YEARS OLD AND CANT GO ANYWHERE WTF (via Twitter)

Are you a Coachella newbie? If so, what are you most excited or most nervous about?

We are Coachella newbies. I honestly don't know where to start. We've heard so much about Coachella, so I'm just looking forward to going and taking it all in.

What's in your Coachella survival bag and does that bag include any extra special add-ons for your set that we can look forward to?

Sun cream. Oh, I think you might call this sun screen in the states? I cook pretty fast in the sun with my tooth paste complexion. Well, regarding the set, there might be actually. Weekend one. If the stars align, we might have a very special guest joining us on stage for one song…..I won't give too much away though.

Describe how you envision the day of your performance to go:

9AM: Juice. Tea/Coffee. Fruit. Nutella & Croissants.

11AM: Wander around.

1PM: Wander around. Meet some friends who are playing the festival also. Eat a bit of lunch. Have some gin and tonic, but not too much.

3PM: Set up side of stage. Increase gin and tonic consumption.

5PM: Think we're on soon. Slight apprehension and excitement.

7PM: Finishing up the show. Feeling good.

9PM: Catch some other bands. More food.

11PM: More of the same please. This is why festivals are so good. Doesn't this day just sound great?

If you could have any celebrity front row during your show who would it be?

This is quite a tough one. You'd want artists you love to watch. But at the same time, having Chance or Kendrick front row might be pretty intimidating. So I'll go for Barack Obama. He seems like a nice dude.

Out of all of your fellow Coachella artists performing, whose show are you most looking forward to watching?

I'll go with Bon Iver. I've never seen him live before, so that'll be a good moment. But the lineup is ridiculous, Kendrick, Kehlani, Kaytranada, Goldlink, Thundercat. It's too much. I want to see everyone.

What was the last song you listened to on repeat?

It was Kendrick Lamar's new song 'Humble'. The video in particular.

If you could partner with any brand, who would it be and why?

Definitely LaCroix Sparkling Water. We live off that stuff when we're touring in the US. LaCroix, if you're reading this, please join us. If we combine forces, we could be something truly special.

Post-Coachella, anything exciting on the horizon we should know about and share with the universe?

Definitely. New music, very soon after Coachella. We've been writing so much over the last few months and we've got a lot of songs ready for a new album. It'll all be slowly coming out over the next year. We're so excited to finally share these new songs with everyone. At the same time, lots of festivals over the summer, and then I'm sure we'll be back again to play our own shows too.
