DENM: Hey Ya

Admittedly, I wasn't sure I was ready to click on anything Outkast-related, especially "Hey Ya"-related. Not my current idea of a chill morning.  With Outkast, you might as well be in a track suit ready to run 100 miles, save a family from a burning building (or at least a cat out of a tree), and/or ready to skydive.  In other words, Outkast is not something music listeners can just do.  There's an amount of respect certain artists deserve.  It's also like playing a Prince track and talking over it.  Was I ready for all this? No.  But is electronic garage-pop artist DENM quickly becoming an artist who has been earning this caliber of respect? Yes.

DENM's interpretation of this dance floor anthem is unexpected.  In fact, it flips the original upside-down, shakes all the change out of its pockets, and deposits all money into a piano man's tip jar.  It's extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world.  I assume Spotify's Friday Cratediggers playlist curators agree when giving this beautiful rendition their #1 slot.
