BATTS: Somedays

Listen, if you're on the verge of an emotional breakdown, you might want to come back later and bring a bulk box of tissue.  Melbourne-based singer-songwriter BATTS, with the help of NASA, 62 Moons, and the recording of Saturn’s rings, is here to orbit around your heartstrings pulling on one at a time.  BATTS explains:

When NASA began to release the sounds of space it blew my mind. Saturn has always been my favourite for many reasons but when I first heard the sound of Saturn’s rings, it really connected. In that moment, I had the thought of combining the music we create as humans, with the natural music of things out in space that have existed for billions and billions of years. I want to instill knowledge of space within music to people, but not via lyrics - via sounds.

Having received worldwide acclaim from trusted music outlets, radio, and touring, something tells me even Mazzy Star herself has streamed BATTS's spacey, psych-tinged folk pop and raised her morning coffee in the air to cheers her masterful layering skills, mix of guitars and modular synth work.

Check out "Somedays," below, lifted from BATTS debut '62 Moons' EP (here via Spotify). With each bar listen as she peels another mesmerizing and melancholic layer unveiling all sides of herself without cliche. With this impressive debut offering and tour dates around the corner, it’s time to get well acquainted with BATTS.
