[PREMIERE] Kappekoff: Oktober

"Stick em up!" Norwegian electronic pop duo Kappekoff are here today holding us up at musicpoint. And by "stick em up" I mean your chest with your shoulders back, head strong, arms stretched, all upward to the crisp autumn sky ready to let loose. Their new single, "Oktober", is a museum of sounds banging on the eardrum each showcasing intricate nuances trickling down to indulge your senses.

"Oktober is a song that we feel is a statement of sorts. It's important to us to create songs that challenge the ear, cause in todays musical environment a lot of what you hear is based on the same stuff. Magnus is inspired by 70s disco and jazz artists, such as Chic, George Duke, Miles Davis and Change, and I am inspired by the approach rnb musicians have to melodies. Like Sg Lewis, The Weeknd and Miguel. So with that combination mixed with our Scandinavian ancestry we feel that we are creating something new." - Rasmus Thallaug (vocals, keys, producer)

Man, this takes me back to my early days dancing at underground parties when you could feel the upper-deck bouncing. What I admire most about Kappekoff is that their music isn't downplayed, never simple piano configurations matched with delicate vocals that surrender to a rising string coda. Instead, their songs are chock-full of adrenaline, sing-along melodies and buckets of red paint, ready to take the town by storm and leave their mark.

"Oktober is also about letting go of the things you once loved, that are difficult to let go of. This track is a good representation of the duo Kappekoff, we think the dualism between the bass and the vocals is really important, as they have impact on each other!
