[PREMIERE] Clairity: Broken Things (Lyric Video)

Clairity- Broken Things (Lyric Video) The alter-ego of Tennessee songstress Claire Wilkinson, Clairity, presents "Broken Things," her most defining and ambitious release to date. Avid music lovers will remember her viral success with Steve James’s, “Renaissance,” her Coldplay cover in the “XMEN: Apocalypse” trailer which premiered at the 2016 Super Bowl, and seeing her name pop up in just about every coveted Spotify playlist. Rare are those moments when everything around you just disappears – I could have been pouring a cup of coffee over the brim spilling onto my lap but until the song stopped wouldn’t have noticed. I’m not going to admit how many times I’ve already watched Clairity’s new lyric video for “Broken Things” but I can assure you if I was playing it on VHS, chances are it would be worn down needing to be replaced.

With a voice that will make you go weak at the knees, this dreamy songlet exudes a soulful edge and vibrant energy that belies her tender years. Too often people try to portray themselves a certain way to please a certain audience and what I fancy most about Clairity, is that she’s just herself – so obviously comfortable in her own skin, and that’s just plain inspiring to those listening. And her voice? It’s not white picket fences, but rather sounds like it’s taken a lifetime of living, and seasons of weather to distress and wear down her chords to perfection. It’s “go time” without the need or desire to just sit pretty. Instead, Clairity’s voice compliments her smoky, shimmering glare, her eyes so knowingly staring into you and providing a compelling, scintillating performance. And it’s okay to admit what gritty thoughts stir, because she not only gets it, she’s written a song about it.

“I wrote Broken Things as a reminder that we aren’t defined by our imperfections. It’s about learning to accept the things we can’t change about ourselves and others, and making peace with them." - Clairity
