Freedom Fry: 1979
20 years have come and gone since Smashing Pumpkins released '1979', and hit #1 on the Billboard charts. We've always been a huge fan of the pop textures of this track, and it's so cool to hear a stripped down version by one of our favorite bands. It feels like such a natural approach to an Alternative Rock classic.
The band had the following to say about the track:
"Bruce grew up listening to The Smashing Pumpkins a lot. Being from France, Marie always knew and liked the song "1979" but never knew what the lyrics were. When we stripped it down to the bare essence of the chords and learned the lyrics we both ended up falling in love with it all over again."
