Zella Day: High

When I was 20 years old I was a very drunk American college student living in Europe. I kind of went to class and mostly gained 15 pounds due to a diet of beer and potato soup. On the other hand, twenty-year-old Zella Day is a desert chic overachiever. She's signed to Hollywood Records, writing and recording really mature songs and just killing it in general. Her debut album, Kicker, will be out next month. The track "High" reminds me of a dark, rocker version of something Sia, Lana Del Rey, and perhaps Tove Lo would put together if sat in a room. I reckon it's going to be a big year for Zella.
