[PREMIERE] Glass Battles: All Hearts (feat. Ely)

What do you get when you fall in love? Well in reality you get excitement, elation, torture, resentment, celebration and mystery. A complex combination. In the case of LA-based electro-pop band, Glass Battles, that combination is found in their first official single, 'All Hearts' (feat. Ely). Sweeping orchestral strings, flawless harmonies between guest vocalist ELY and GB's own Sean Augustine, a driving R&B rhythm, tribal drums and an absolutely wicked bass line create a journey that draws from so many influences but comes together in a layered, nuanced way that is both dramatic and underplayed. Glass Battles teeters on the fence of commercial pop and experimental sound-art, driving the listener to an area they think they're expecting and then taking a sharp left turn. Heavily influenced by swedish pop, 'All Hearts' zips in and out of the Marvin Gaye-meets-Robyn groove into anthemic galloping drums that drop out for one of the single-most contemplative and sinister bridges of this summer (it's that aforementioned bass line that does it). What follows is a full four-on-the-floor dance break that you can practically see the silver confetti falling from the ceiling as soon as it happens. If this is the anthem for summer's heartbreak, let's hope Glass Battles never finds true love. Because we need more.
