Giorgio Moroder x Britney Spears

When Girogio Moroder (the now-74 year old godfather of electronic dance music) announced last year that he was going to be mounting a comeback, there were plenty of people who were skeptical, myself included. After all this time, I wasn’t sure if he still had what it took to make a banger that sounded current, yet maintained his signature style. With the latest cut to emerge from his forthcoming CD, Moroder shows that he has connections to the biggest stars of today, reverence for the past, and the artistry he’s always been known for.

He and Britney take the 90’s classic “Tom’s Diner” and breathe new life into it, perfectly mixing old and new. Spears’ sexy kitten voice is perfect for the song, and Moroder kicks the chorus into overdrive with creative breakdowns and enough noise to fill a stadium. It’s important to note that though this could be thought of as the souped-up version of the song, Giorgio made sure it never lost the element of cool that “Diner” has always exuded.

This man is truly a genius.
