Carly Rae Jepsen: All That
Judge me all you want, but there is no doubt in my mind that CRJ knows how to craft a fantastic album. 2012's Kiss was near perfection, and it featured your favorite guilty pleasure (don't deny it) "Call Me Maybe." This year Carly is back at it again, and good god...we're only two songs into the process, and she's giving me the business. "All That" is sexy 80s synth r&b-pop balladry goodness - think Prince, or Solange even. The nod to Solange's latest work isn't all that surprising though, considering the track is produced by Ariel Rechtshaid and Dev Hynes, the latter of which worked exclusively with Solange on her fabulous True EP. In any case, I'm going to need Carly's next LP like yesterday, because we're off to a really good start.
