Broken Luxury: Block The Wind
After smashing two shows at SXSW, Broken Luxury now finished working with a living legend and 5 time Grammy winning jazz bassist Christian McBride on a collaboration, and are getting set to perform along side Roison Murphy and Django Django at the Electronic Beats Festival in Cologne Germany this May. So who are these guys?
It's nearly impossible to describe what Broken Luxury does, or what their sound is, and producer Zach Golden and vocalist Josh Reynolds like it that way. They call it Future Soul, this unique sound draws from a variety of genres and styles based in soul, jazz and R&B song writing, while invoking the energy and power of electronic music with Josh’s raw vocal talents.
Broken Luxury continually evolves as musicians, developing their sound, and creating new ways for their fans to experience live music. A Broken Luxury live set is unlike almost any we've seen. Each set is created with specific interludes mixed between each song so that the listener can experience a unique and singular piece of music. No down time between songs, no time for applause, no introduction or anecdotes, just 30-60 min of non-stop, energetic, pure music. If you see Broken Luxury play live, it is likely that they will never play that exact set again. Because by the time their next show rolls around, they will include new songs, in a different order, with new interludes.
Broken Luxury stay determined to continually challenge themselves and push limits musically. They write original songs like Block The Wind, have recorded some serious covers like this version of Sam Smith's Stay With Me (Broken Luxury Cover) , are seeking out collaborations with artists in a variety of genres, and they regularly throw down DJ sets like this Beautiful Buzzz - Buzzz Mix Vol. 12
Keep an eye out for this duo and their upcoming releases. If you’re in NYC, they’ll be performing their live set at The Knitting Factory on April 12th.
