Justin Jay: Momentum EP
If you are looking to step out of your deep house comfort zone, you’ve come to the right place. Today, Justin Jay releases his Momentum EP out on Pets Recordings, and the LA college producer absolutely takes us on an adventure with each track. Justin tends to all fans of the deep house spectrum whether you are into more playful tracks, funky tracks, or darker tracks.
To start with the cruelest of the pack, the title track of the EP brings aboard Kill Frenzy to combine barking synth warps and gruff hi-hat work that will inevitably cause listeners nightmares (in a good way). Next up, “How I Knew” takes the young producers talents with deep house’s most complex components and injects some funk into them with a distinct vocal snippet to produce a crossbreed track with multiple levels of sophistication. Lastly, “You Give Me Butterflies” was released as the first single of the EP, and the track instantly transports listeners to the beaches of Southern California to prepare us for the upcoming summer months. Fans of deep house need to educate themselves on Justin Jay’s well-rounded approach to music, and they will definitely find something new that they didn’t know they loved. The EP can be streamed below and purchased on Beatport.
