carltonpress Central LA-based alternative pop trio Carlton is back with a set of five unreleased songs. These tunes were recorded over the past year and a half in studios all around Los Angeles, including Fonogenic Studios, Wishbone Studios, and a whole bunch of bedrooms and living rooms. They represent both heavier and softer elements that the band has been experimenting with both in studio and live. The EP starts with a departure from normal Carlton arrangements with the acoustic version of the band’s song “Cry”. It then picks up intensity for the driving rock tune “Hate Me” before turning down the energy in favor of a more modern, minimalist ballad titled “Looking Down”. The band then picks back up where the left off with the major key breakup song “Space” before closing out with the bluesy-rock mainstay of their live set titled “Crumblin”.

They will be performing the songs this upcoming Monday (3/9/15) at The Bootleg HiFi in Silver Lake. The band has also been hard at work over the past month recording even more new music with producer Matt Squire (Ariana Grande, One Direction, 3Oh!3, Panic! at the Disco), which will be released in the coming months.
