[PREMIERE] Archis: Bittersweet (Music Video)
Archis is a sonic collaboration between the crazy talented Dia Frampton and the equally adept Joseph Trapanese. The product of their partnership, a self-titled EP to be released on the 23rd, is a pretty killer combo. Frampton's voice and songwriting style are unique and haunting with just enough pop sensibility. Trapanese, who has helped compose many a futuristic film score (Divergent, Oblivion, Tron) creates an orchestral backbone that makes you feel all the feelings. The track Bittersweet on its own sounds kind of uplifting and romantic to me. If my life was a movie I'd plug this tune in when I fall in love or when I'm kissing in the rain with my beau, but maybe I've just seen The Notebook too many times. The video Archis put together to pair with the song is much darker. Dia and Joseph don't make an appearance, but the sole actor on screen wages an intense battle with a bed that is trying to swallow him. I know, I know, it's a metaphor. The video didn't leave me confused and uncomfortable like Sia's Elastic Heart. It did make me want to hug my dog and eat cookies to keep the sads away. See what I mean? Archis - making you feel all the feelings since 2015.
