Stroik: On The Dotted Line

Nothing beats a great, timeless melody sung in earnest and something tells me the multi-instrumentalist songwriter/producer behind Stroik shares this sentiment. Sounding like a slightly less well-adjusted Seasons in the Sun on cough syrup, he's not only able to make a memorable hook, but he can dress it up in a interesting fashion. Stroik's debut EP is called Career Girls and this is first song to be unveiled exclusively on Love Our Records.

"Don't want to be an ungrateful ant" he playfully informs as a harmonium kicks in over a thick acoustic, faint ride symbols and a waltzy swing. There's a sadness to the snark but it seemingly declares it proudly turning the affair into a sort of mantra of melancholy to rejoice in rather than mope about. "I want to face what I feel / I want to go somewhere real / I want to see your name on the dotted line" goes the chorus. All around the song delightful accents happen - reggae punches, Caribbean percussion, a marching electro kick and snare, pretty soft pillowy chords, a guitar solo out of the book of love. Someone call Neil Sedaka for the comeback album.
