Louis Futon: Louis Futon EP

Philadelphia's Louis Futon had quite a year in 2014, but he's making moves to ensure more success. With his very first headlining tour in Australia in the bag, and this release of his self-titled EP, 2015 is looking awfully bright for this talented, young star. Drawing his inspiration from jazz, R&B, and everything in between, Louis Futon isn't defined by genres, rather he has made a name for himself with his willingness to experiment with his sound, and break down traditional genre barriers for a style that can only be described as his own.

Louis Futon tries his hand at a bevy of different genres on his seven track EP, composed of four original songs and three remixes. The opening track, "Take Off," is a foray into an experimental, downtempo trap style reminiscent of Mr. Carmack. The next two tracks, "Silk" and "Sir Rock," are both future bass gems, complete with stabbing synths, indie-style piano progressions, and a subtle bassline. "DRNUK" brings the EP back in a full circle as Louis Futon once again ventures into the experimental trap arena, as the track is characterized by a gritty bass and pulsing synths.
