Sun City: Paralyse (Samuel Proffitt Remix)

You know that part in "My Lovin' (Never Gonna' Get It)" by En Vogue where a sampled male voice can be heard saying "and now it's time for a breakdown"? Well that wouldn't be out of place opening up Samuel Proffitt's entire remix of Sun City's "Paralyse." Not to suggest there's an absence in the arrangement. Quite the contrary. In fact, the breakdown is always my favorite part of the song, and this remix is essentially a 4-minute breakdown. Listen to its very heavy, slow feel. The kick drum complements the chugs of the synths, the synths play a set of rhythmically oriented riffs, the strings achieve a high attack noise that decays slowly making the overall sound thick and harmonic.
