PROM: Flickers
FRESH. AS. HECK.
Their soundcloud nameplate may read 'PROM is a band', but don't be fooled, this is not a band. This is a synth centered super-duo with tones as phat as the sun (I'm not sure what that means, but it just feels right so let's roll with it). Hailing from Brooklyn, the musical collaboration of Ella Zoller and Gabriel Stanley are everything I've been wanting to hear this summer. Yes, you read that right. EVERYTHING. They leap from swarming swirls of buzzing electronics to twirling melodic corridors that never seem to end. It is a gigantic field day in my ears and it is wonderful.
And sure, I guess you could call it 'dream-pop', or 'indie-pop', or any other slightly left of center pop. But how about we skip that whole song and dance. How about we we call it good. Scratch that. How about we call it 'The Best Thing We've Heard All Summer.'
Yup, that sounds just right.
