Olivver: Not Going Home
LA based Olivver brings the series of new released material to a slow purr with their most recent track, 'Not Going Home'. Set to be released on his forthcoming EP FREAK, Olivver's take on the anthemic stadium-style is put in his trademark sleeper hold and unfolds quietly over traveling guitars, the clicks of down-the-drains percussion samples and beautiful layers of bass and synth.
Of Olivver's releases, this seems to be funneled into an atmosphere that utilized his direct lyrical styling and lets it serve as a consistent supplement to his tone. Both wistful and challenging, it is the most representative of Olivver's seemingly nihilistic and undeniably relatable point of view. The song reaches to a solid, dare we say it -- inspirational lilt brought by the vocally rounded choruses -- it begs to be chanted along too.
Whether it's the resentment of exhaustion or the bold perseverance to move through obstacles, Olivver has touched on yet another great balance of ambivalence in a track that will move you, relax the soul and perhaps turn your mind inward a little. It has with us, and once again we are both impressed and can feel at peace that somebody out there gets it.
