[VIDEO PREMIERE] Badboxes: Here and Now
What do you get when you mix an old VCR with 25 thrift store lamps? Well, you either get the brightest house in 1995 or the dreamy three-part performance video 'Cabin Fever' from Pittsburgh-based band, Badboxes. Filmed in a cabin in the woods in Western PA, the band has released the third installment of this claustro-delic video revealing the third song, premiering on these very pages and called "Here and Now".
The band bounces from reggae, electronic, to psychedlic rock and somehow makes it work -- using this unique blend to create an ethereal atmosphere. An atmosphere most could easily paint into the 'summertime jam' corner, but there's a intricate nature to how things are done with Badboxes -- they aren't just a band for the season, they harken back to a time when music had more patience. It's almost a deliberate jam session, layered in a way that's a sound engineer's dream and a live show enthusiast's guilty pleasure.
Check out the understated magic below and stay tuned for a new single and video for the song "Like A Star" to come. Catch them live in New York this month and check their music out weekly on WE FOUND NEW MUSIC radio live Fridays from 9pm-1am PST or podcasted on the site.
