Zella Day: East of Eden
It's early and I'm trying to decipher Zella Day's new song, "East of Eden." I'm attempting to "find East of Eden" but I don't know what that means or where that is. Does it have anything to do with Nobel Prize winner John Steinbeck and his novel of the same name? Let's move on.
Zella Day has emerged as a singular musical voice - compelling and intimate - making big splashes this year at SXSW, with "Sweet Ophelia" and b-side '1965', including 3 remixes, all reaching the top 3 in the Hype Machine 'Popular Chart,' and on Spotify where she picking up over 3.5 million streams over the course of 3 weeks.
I think it's safe to say Zella Day is breaking through and living up to the hype, and it looks like this melancholic and majestic troubadour is just getting started.
