Remix: Ignition Remix (Giraffage Remix)

It's not often that a remix reminds me of both old and new happy memories, but Charlie Yin (better known as the producer Giraffage from San Francisco) has accomplished that very feat with this latest release. Taking R.Kelly's infamous classic "Ignition Remix" and intermixing essence of organ, trap bass, and summerly lighthearted synths, he's created an entirely new twist on the early 2000s school yard anthem (and club scene favorite).

Forming a cohesively tight layering of vocal sampling of R.Kelly's, Yin weaves colorfully cartoonish beats in and out like intricately  patterned fabric. Known for his skill with remixes, Yin's talent lies in his ability to sonically find the silver lining in all the songs he graces with his productional midas touch. This remix of "Ignition"  not only puts the original on a pedestal, it pays homage where homage is due. Yin has transformed R. Kelly's masterpiece- shining a light on the original track's best qualities and giving the summer of 2014 a new R&B anthem.
