New Artist: Homesick Astronauts- One & One
Don't be fooled by this band's name. To be honest, I immediately judged it before clicking play. "Homesick Astronauts" as a name rang between my ears as a bad electronic, yet sentimental duo that was attempting to tap into whatever Cashmere Cat had grabbed onto.Clearly I tend to over think things, but that's beside the point. What I am in now is awe- this four piece band from Hamburg, Germany has me wanting more in a fashion only a sugar addict can understand. I was more than wrong- this foursome painted a storied nostalgia full of longing. Recorded in Florida and produced in Ohio, this multilayered band deserves more attention than they've received.
Homesick Astronauts is a bit more "big band folk" than I usually am attracted to, or at least as of late (I've been listening to a lot of PC Music and Sophie). My instantaneous smile was a bit shocking even to me. Take care of this song as a listener. It feels tender, yet simultaneously prolific and independent. Lending a hand to the joy of a collective beauty felt in it's robust bass and choral harmonies, "One & One" by Homesick Astronauts is a track to come back to and a band that will soon gain much attention.
