[EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE] ZZ Ward: Criminal Feat. Freddie Gibbs (Joywave Remix)

Some things in life go together well. Peanut butter is best friends with jelly, cheese (when grilled) makes a lovely bread pairing, and (I'm told) peas love to be in pods. But nothing blends quite as well as these three. ZZ brings an intimately bold vocal performance, Freddie Gibbs tends to the grit, and it's all spread on top of a brilliantly groovy re imagining by Joywave.

The production is ace, and Joywave's own Sean Donnelly clued us unto what brought the track together, "Initially I had two different ideas, both I really liked, so I combined them into a part A and B. I wanted to inject the song with a danceable energy and also to embellish the slow-burn element of the song. I had my friend Dave play a sultry guitar solo to put it over the top."

It's supreme ear candy and we like it. Actually, scratch that. It's supreme ear candy and we LOVE it. So much that I think we're gonna premiere it.

ZZ is fresh off of a huge first weekend at Coachella, and will be appearing again this Friday during the second weekend of the festival.
