Caitlin Park: Lemonade
Australia has been my comfort zone of new acts for a couple months now. Comfort zone in the sense that I have yet to be disappointed with recent releases. The artist's coming out of this country have been what my ears need and crave (i.e. Bannofee, Courtney Barnett, Seekae, Oscar Key Sung, The Preatures just to name a few). In fact, you could say I'm pleasantly addicted to what this corner of world is dishing out-or would it be more appropriate to say "what it's serving the rest of the world on a silver platter?" Maybe not, but you get my meaning. Caitlin Park is another name to add to this list.
I've written about Caitlin Park before with her track "Hold Your Gaze." The singer/songwriter from Sydney has once again blown me out of the water with her latest, "Lemonade." Drenched in a multi-colorful, almost chanting, jangle of percussion with an all male choir and Park's deep, but soothingly rough vocals add to the already unexpected juxtaposition of pop. With the sun finally trigging spring here in California, this track is exactly how I want it to begin.
