Let's talk about power ballads. If you want to get them right there's a few key ingredients to make them properly. First you need a giant heaping of histrionics. If you don't have that consider yourself out of the running. Secondly, you need to come off a string of bubbly sticky sweet hits. (Okay, that's not wholly true but I prefer my dance pop to ballad pop ratio at least 4:1) And lastly, but certainly not least, you need to have that magical chorus that socks a punch right to your gut.
