The duo, were originally part of rival bands, like legit West Side Story kind of rivals. Fist fights and turf wars broke out between the bands and through the flying fists Shields & Layton connected, like star crossed musical lovers. They fled their combative compatriots to make music together, free of the quarrelsome energy. Thus Oh, Be Clever was born.

Together Layton & Shields have created a refreshing pop sound that defies all convention and leaves you desperately wanting more. Their debut single, "Next To You" is a blazing electro-rock anthem with a soaring chorus made for radio that showcases Shields impressive vocals and Layton's tight production.
