[BEST OF 2013] Favorite LP: Savages: Silence Yourself
If PJ Harvey, Siouxsie Sioux & The Breeders had the ability to mix their baby batter together & procreate, their child would be called, "SAVAGES." That baby would have also released something perfect like "Silence Yourself." It is shocking to me that this genre of post-punk music has virtually disappeared from our shelves (or mp3 players) in the USA today. What is not shocking is the fact that the moment I heard this record in May, it has not left my heavy rotation playlist. The UK based ladies have received a plethora of critical acclaim upon its worldwide release. So naturally, it is no surprise that this record has popped up on several of my favorites year end list. If you like heavy bass chords & chunky guitar riffs over great vocals and storytelling, well then look no more.
