avatars-000059006833-3a3zna-t500x500sivu Sivu’s eyes are blue- a very, very deep blue. The first time I saw a picture of the solo artist I did a double take. Strange, I know, considering it was almost 1 am and I was alone in my room. Nevertheless, I looked over my shoulder as if to say to the empty space, “Can you believe this?! Are those real?!” I mention his eyes because “I Hold”, a duet featuring the fragile vocals of Marika Hackman, feels like swimming in the dark end of a pool (or his eyes)- a floating uncertainty that he’s somehow translated into this duet. It’s been haunting me ever since.

The London based musician first came onto my radar about three months back with his track “Over & Over.” A twinkling melodic twist of a lullaby set to drums and soft guitar plucking. Sivu has proven he’s a master at creating these fantastical worlds within a three-minute period. His latest EP I Lost Myself doesn’t include this beauty- thanks, Sivu, for the present. This romantic duet between Sivu and Hackman is the perfect accompaniment for the longing of a loved lost. A gentle reminder that an aching heart can be soothed.
