[PREMIERE] Fortress Social Club: Dream Girls

fortress social club "Dream Girls" is the lead single off of Fortress Social Club's new album "Make Love, Not Babies" being released on November 4th.

A suitable rejoinder to the groundswell of interest piqued over the last year from a band that revolves around the Fortress recording studio located in Downtown Los Angeles. The original formation consisting of Shawn Harris (vocals/chromatic harmonica) and Mykul Lee (guitar) was born when given the opportunity to test out their prized collection of vintage recording equipment; the band has since been rounded out by Harris’s sister, Jo Harris (vocalist/B-3 Organ, Mellotron), Johnzo West (lead guitarist) and Justin “Bird” Andres (bassist) and Rob Humphreys (drummer).

Fortress Social Club is rock’n'roll that rubs up against rigid electronics in a cascading melody of fireworks. Think surf noir banging against synth sounds in brilliant Technicolor as if John Lennon, T. Rex, The Velvet Underground and The Rolling Stones would meet for a sweaty serenade at the Carnival of Souls. But beyond coquettish post-punk coolness we hear an echo of the Golden Age, in which the hottest of dream girls are about to lift the world off its hinges.

Harris explains it best: “We are on a quest with each song we write to recreate the magical feeling we had when we first discovered rock ‘n’ roll.”   If you're in LA on Monday, October 28th, catch Fortress Social Club's album release show at The Viper Room. Buy tickets, here!
