[PREMIERE] Borrowed Beams Of Light: On The Wings Of A Bug
Borrowed Beams of Light are Adam Brock and Nathan Walsh, power pop co-conspirators from Charlottesville, VA. Their debut LP, Stellar Hoax, was a buoyant display of pop stylings across the decades, centered around the Voynich Manuscript and sounding somewhere between Neutral Milk Hotel and The Kinks. Two years later, the band are gearing up to release their sophomore LP (following an equally enjoyable EP last year) and Kick Kick Snare is proud to premiere the first single, "On The Wings Of A Bug."
On The Wings Of A Bug is a three minute burst of glittering indie pop, ushered along by driving guitars, big harmonies and witty lyrics. It feels more mature than past releases, but in the sense that the songwriter has experienced more. The youthful bounce and well rounded hooks are still present in abundance, but they feel more calculated and well traveled. The track showcases a strong tendency towards Fleetwood Mac and will easily appeal to fans of the Elephant Six Collective. If you like what you hear, make sure to grab the pre-order now off Charlottesville's Hibernator Gigs and don't miss the Beams next time they play near you.
