Let Me Romanticise

chelaKick Kick Snare would like to present a special feature from Jeff Prior - 1/4 of the DC DJ & party collective/force of nature known as CTRL - who, in just over a year, has taken over the DC indie & alt-pop club scene with their no rules, no pretension brand of inclusive party nights, DJ mixes, & performances.

If you’re not already familiar with electropop starlet Chela, there’s no better time than now to get to know the Melbourne-based singer, whose excellent new single 'Romanticise,' serves as a reminder that summer isn’t over yet.

Probably best known previously for her appearance on Goldroom’s fantastic track 'Fifteen' or Viceroy's hit single 'Dream Of Bombay,' Chela’s stateside solo debut delivers a one-two punch of bouncy, disco-infused synths and dynamic vocals that provide the perfect cap to any summer mixtape. Think Ladyhawke meets Classixx, but don’t think too hard – she’s no one-trick pony when it comes to her music and influences, and isn’t afraid to show off her dance moves while she’s at it. And based on what I’ve seen, the girl knows how to #twerk it. Here’s to hoping for big things in 2014.

“Romanticise” is from Chela’s upcoming Kitsuné EP of the same title out on August 26, which also includes some great remixes by Kick Kick Snare favorites Gold Fields, Boys Get Hurt, Le Bruce and more. Pre-order the EP HERE and show her just how to romance a pop star.
